This handbook provides some principles and key indicators to measure microinsurance performance.
• Chapter 1 describes these principles and the indicators;
• Chapter 2 focuses on some of the special considerations to be given in evaluating performance for certain products and for the partner-agent model;
• Chapter 3 introduces the subject of benchmarking;
• Chapter 4 explores the topic of social performance.
This handbook, together with a microinsurance factsheet, forms the toolkit "Performance Indicators for Microinsurance." Both tools complement each other and are designed to be used together. The microinsurance factsheet is an Excel workbook that comprises the financial statements adapted for microinsurance practitioners. Based upon these statements, the ten key performance indicators described in this handbook are calculated. The handbook complements the factsheet by assisting the reader with the interpretation of the obtained results.
